Congratulations Nicky & Eric - our new 2024 life members

At the recent Glenelg Lacrosse Club (GLC) Annual General Meeting, we were proud to award Life Membership to two outstanding members whose decades of dedication, passion, and service have left an indelible mark on the club. Congratulations to Eric Greenhalgh and Nicky Bolton on this well-deserved recognition!

Eric Greenhalgh

Eric Greenhalgh’s enduring commitment to GLC stands as a shining example of loyalty and love for the game. Beginning his lacrosse journey as a junior player in the 1960s, Eric has been a steadfast ambassador for the club. Despite a brief period playing for another club during an interstate move in the 1990s, Eric’s heart never strayed from Glenelg.

Over the years, Eric has been an unsung hero, working tirelessly behind the scenes to support the club. His contributions go beyond the 424 senior games and multiple premierships he achieved during his playing career. Eric’s dedication has been pivotal in shaping the strong community spirit that defines GLC today.

“Eric is one of those people whose efforts often go unnoticed but form the backbone of a great club,” said John Toogood, who nominated Eric for Life Membership.

This recognition honours not just Eric’s playing career but also his invaluable role in building the foundation of Glenelg Lacrosse Club.

Nicky Bolton

Nicky Bolton’s contributions to GLC are nothing short of extraordinary, with her involvement spanning decades as a player, coach, and volunteer. Since transferring to Glenelg in 1993, Nicky has played an astonishing 600+ senior games and been a key player during the club’s golden years.

Her passion for coaching is equally impressive. Since 1998, Nicky has been dedicated to developing junior talent, taking on roles such as coaching the mixed under 8s, girls’ under 11s, and most recently the girls’ under 13s. In 2023, she co-coached the Division 1 women’s team, further demonstrating her commitment to fostering excellence.

Nicky’s impact doesn’t stop there. As the club’s “Merch Queen” for over a decade, she has transformed the club’s merchandise operation into a thriving success. From sourcing pinnies to creating supporter gear, Nicky has ensured Glenelg families wear their pride loud and proud.

“Nicky is part of the heart and soul of our club,” said fellow Life Member and nominator Keely Yates. “Her passion, dedication, and countless hours of service epitomize what it means to be part of Glenelg Lacrosse.”

Nicky’s unwavering commitment embodies the spirit of Glenelg Lacrosse Club, making her a truly deserving recipient of Life Membership.
